Biography

Finn Hvidberg Nielsen is born in Sønderborg in the Southern Denmark, on the beautiful and small island Als.

Although Finn H. Nielsen has lived most of his life in Denmark, has he traveled extensively all over Europe and Scandinavia, where he has lived in Norway and France for a couple of years. Further more has he worked three years in  poverty related project development in Madagascar, the pearl of the Indian Ocean; which has had an immense impact in his life. People living in absolute emotional extremes, an intense being in life, yet vulnerable and fragile, though still beautiful.

This physical journey has together with an emotional and spiritual journey become the most powerful inspirational source for his works.

It should be evident for people who have been there and seen it, to see fragments of a tormented and shattered soul, in some of his previous works. Fragments of what seems like a lifetime in darkness. The sculpture Stille Mørke – Silent darkness projects man's quiet scream in total darkness behind closed eyes, where the dark despair is accentuated with mutilated arms reaching towards God.

On the other hand there is a total different passion incorporated in the abstract sculptures, some of them symbolising the bright, sensitive and colourful inner soul. The soul illustrated with abstract curves, the warm wood and feminine forms, indicating the reflection of a warm life giving love. Others again showing inner peace and harmony - the being in life - being Soul.
